Alison Tomei is an intuitive painter, muralist and teacher, specializing in Therapeutic Creativity and Artistic Ritual / Ceremony. She believes that the state of creativity is an integral part of the human experience and can not only enrich our lives but also aid in understanding ourselves and our experiences. Alison has worked for over 10 years in therapeutic arts settings and her residencies include, most recently, Sierra Arts Foundation and Arts for All NV where she facilitated groups for at-risk youth, Alzheimer care, recovery and rehabilitation, Autism, social emotional learning and cancer support.
Alison also facilitates SoulArt Sessions for individuals and groups and creates Muse Murals, custom indoor murals for homes, business and sacred spaces. An El Dorado County native and previous Placerville business owner, Alison will be returning to the area to bring us her most recent show, Archetypes and Soulscapes during Third Saturday Art Walk. Her paintings are created intuitively and hold the intention she brings to the canvas, working each piece as a ritual and embedding it with sacred symbols, written word and guided messages. Common themes of archetypes and mythologies of the feminine psyche can be found in her work.
In addition to painting, other mediums include collage and mixed media. Alison has raised a son, loves cooking, dancing, celebrating life, reading and making art. She has a passion for travel and adventure, making friends and having important conversations. It is through service to others that she learns the most about what is important in life and how to keep our cup full.
