Originally hailing from the San Francisco Mission, Boca do Rio is a Brazilian-American samba-funk explosion. Born of the mixing of waters of Brazil and the San Francisco Bay, Boca do Rio has created psychedelic samba – music that developed through the rhythm of living and working between the Americas. After a decade performing all original material during the heyday of San Francisco’s live music scene, Boca do Rio has evolved into a multi-layered electro-funk party boat with a sound that is fluid and edgy, adaptable and free.
Boca do Rio started flowing when Kevin Welch and Alex Calatayud formed a musical partnership in the late nineties that would redefine Brazilian music in the Bay Area. The electro-whiz kid, Jacob Aginsky, soon joined the group adding a mystical element. The musical collaboration was founded in deep respect for past traditions, steeped in the sambas and choros that echoed through the Brazilian favelas, while always evolving forward to create an organic sound that is decidedly modern and funky.
Suika T & Band is a project with amazing musicians that create a live fusion of refreshing & groundbreaking music. Blending Electro Cumbia, Latin rhythms & Hip Hop with elements of Funk, Reggae & DanceHall. Their vibe is unique & their groove is undeniable.
Suika’s stellar band of musicians take what could be casually chalked up as Latin party music and elevate it to something much more.
Lead vocalist Suika T. is a world traveled singer-songwriter & multi instrumentalist that creates beautiful melodies & explosive latin hip hop flows. Roberto Pomart aka Thunder Lump, Bassist/Vocalist brings the funk and the groove, weaves through the musical transformation, Ty Smith in the drumms with the latin rhythms breaking the patterns in unexpected and unique ways.
On vocals, strings and percussion ,Suika's long time collaborator & soul brother : Lucio La Rüa. The chemistry between them share along with their combined passion for Hip Hop, Latin rhythms & music, magnify the magical vibes of this act.
Brishen Dale Giesele amazing guitar player with nearly two decades of experience performing, that brings his unique spice of the Psychedelic Cumbia infuse with his unique wester style. making him an invaluable addition to the ensemble.
Also Featuring Edgar Torres one of the best conga players in the region , Nick Eggers in the saxophone, enhancing melodies and grooves, And Jeff Daub in the trumpet with his energetic melodies. completing the perfect recipe for keep the crowd dancing all night long!
